Until recently, raising and educating children was considered the exclusive responsibility of mothers. Historically, women have often been perceived as the primary caregivers. As a result, fathers often feel pressured to sit in the shadows when it comes to being involved in raising their children. They often become the subject of jokes or ridicule for activities such as changing diapers or expressing interest in paternity leave.
Fathers in traditional culture often promote the stereotype that they are incompetent, emotionally detached parents, with a secondary role in raising and educating their children and not having the same importance for their children. They were often perceived as just play partners of children with insignificant roles in their upbringing and education.
The father was seen more as a financial support and protector, and the relationship with the children was limited to moments of free time, such as weekends or late evenings. However, in many countries, concepts related to gender and parental roles have changed significantly. In recent years, there has been a significant change in the approach to this topic, with increasing awareness of the importance of father involvement in children's lives. These researchers and others have looked at various aspects of father involvement in child rearing and education, including the positive effects of an involved father on child development, the father's influence on child behavior, the impact of paternity leave, and more.
