Teaching Strategies for the Inclusive Higher Education

The present paper is a synthetic and fundamentally theoretical approach to the concept of inclusive education as described in the specialized literature. Thus, the term is defined, described in the characteristic notes, the principles underlying the effective realization of inclusive education are reviewed. Also, the provisions of the primary and subsequent legislation that regulate the achievement of the inclusive education in the non-compulsory Romanian higher education system are brought to the fore and they describe the mechanisms applied in the higher education institutions in order to adopt decisions to facilitate the integration of students with disabilities into academic communities. Finally, some practical recommendations are presented for optimizing the teaching activities carried out with students with various types of disabilities.
